The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for north and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai and Oahu, and north facing shores of Molokai and Maui.

Breaking waves will rise to 18 to 22 feet along north and east facing shores. Surf will rise to 10 to 15 feet along the west facing shores of Oahu.

A large northwest swell will spread into the area tonight and peak Monday evening. The swell will subside through Tuesday morning.

A new and larger swell will roll in by Tuesday evening.

This advisory is likely to be upgraded to a warning ahead of the next swell.

The high surf advisory will remain in effect from 6pm Sunday to 6am HST on Tuesday.
